The January transfer market proves to be a period of intense speculation and possible major moves. Numerous notable stars are being connected to moves out of their current teams. Here is a look at some of the top names who could be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, which has kept the player in contention, indications are a major move is close. The 25-year-old possesses a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other options, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

This English defender has excel for Palace despite a previous move to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract set to run out in the summer, this represents the club's final opportunity to obtain a fee for their skipper. Numerous top sides, including City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has had starting minutes limited at Spurs this term. Despite being the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun just a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the North London club would be open to a sale for the right price, thought to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça following the coach Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter departure seems highly likely. Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

K. Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ first team. The 19-year-old is widely expected to make a major transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
