Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Triumph Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
The New England Patriots tied their longest winning run from the Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in 2019
QB Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The win extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the Jets' first possession
But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
