Labuschagne Left Out from Australia's ODI Team Against India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from Australia's three-game ODI series versus India, as high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw getting a surprise call-up.
Performance Issues Result in Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international squad following scoring just one run in both of his innings during the top-end series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a top score of forty-seven in his last 10 ODI batting appearances.
The 31-year-old has played 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test recall ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on 21 November.
Surprise Inclusion and Other Squad Changes

Australia have named a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the Ashes approaching, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-game T20 series due to a wrist injury sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 sides after smashing a century in the final game against New Zealand to clinch a two-nil victory last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be some management through the later stages of the series as individuals prepare for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” selection chief George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will stay as a group as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare specific players for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the rivals play five T20s from October 29.
